Man shot in Lower Sackville

A 21-year-old man was taken to hospital with a gunshot wound Friday night.

RCMP are investigating a shooting in Lower Sackville Friday night.

A 21-year-old man with a gunshot wound arrived at the Cobequid Hospital just after 10:30 p.m, police said.

They believe the shooting took place at a residence on Manor Drive in Lower Sackville and that it was not a random act.

The man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre and underwent surgery.

He is now listed in serious condition but is expected to make a full recovery, police say.

Investigators plan to interview him as soon as he is able to speak with them.

Neighbours say two young men were renting the trailer and just moved in a few weeks ago.

Police say their investigation is in its early stages and they have seized a vehicle. They are asking for anyone with information to contact them.

Friday's incident marks 17 shootings in Halifax Regional Municipality in 2012.
