Man shot in Halifax

Police say a man has been sent to hospital following a shooting in Halifax.

Police say a man has been sent to hospital following a shooting in Halifax Sunday.

The shooting happened on Federal Avenue at about 1 p.m.

Const. Brian Palmeter would only say that the victim is an adult male and that he remains in hospital.

"I don't have an exact address for where he resides, but we do know he's from the Halifax area," Palmeter said.

"He is in hospital right now being treated for life-threatening injuries as a result of being shot."

Police tape surrounded much of the 3300 block of Federal Avenue Sunday afternoon. There were also a large number of officers in the nearby Romans area ensuring no one disturbed the grass in front of public housing units there.

Palmeter said Sunday afternoon no arrests had been made and investigators were looking for witnesses. It wasn't clear how long police will remain on scene.
