A man was shot in Dartmouth, N.S., Tuesday afternoon.

A man was shot in Dartmouth, N.S., Tuesday afternoon.

Halifax Regional Police responded after receiving several 911 calls about multiple shots being fired in the area of Kennedy and Roleika drives at 3:15 p.m.

Officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound that is believed to be non life-threatening. He was taken to hospital.

"The investigation is in its early stages, but investigators believe this was not a random incident," said Const. Brian Palmeter.

"The vehicle has been seized by police. Two other occupants of the SUV were taken into custody by police."

The CBC's Preston Mulligan said police were parked by a GMC Envoy that had what appeared to be a bullet hole on the bottom of the driver's door. An eyewitness told Mulligan she saw two men get out of the vehicle and one of them was favouring his leg.

Seven police cruisers surrounded the vehicle. Police have taped off an apartment on Roleika Drive.
