Five masked men shot a man in the leg in North Preston Thursday night, RCMP say.

Victim hit on head with back of gun

Five masked men shot a man in the leg in North Preston Thursday night, RCMP say.

Sgt. Allan Mann said five people surrounded the man in his yard on Donald Lane at about 10 p.m.

"As far as we know it was five young males, and all wearing disguises," Mann told CBC News.

RCMP were told the attackers were wearing white masks that covered their faces.

The 31-year-old victim was taken to hospital with a bullet wound in his leg. But Mann said his more serious injury seems to be a blow to the head from the back of a gun.

The investigation continues.

This is the eighth gun-related incident in the Halifax Regional Municipality this year.
