Halifax Regional Police are searching for a man who held up the McDonald's restaurant on Kempt Road in Halifax just before 7 a.m. Wednesday, police say.

The male was believed to have a knife.

Witnesses saw the man get into a car in the parking lot of the Swiss Chalet restaurant  next door, and speed away.

Three days ago, a man with a knife robbed the McDonald's on Quinpool Road.

Halifax police spokesman Const. Brian Palmeter said police are trying to determine if the two robberies are connected. He said the description of the suspect in both robberies is similar.

In the Quinpool Road robbery,  the suspect was wearing a mask when he entered the store at about 11:30 p.m. Sunday and demanded cash from the staff.

He took money, left through a back door and got into a waiting vehicle. There were no injuries.

The suspect was described as approximately five feet seven inches tall and 145 pounds and was wearing a hoodie and black jeans.
