Man found not criminally responsible in aunt's death
Salah believed his aunt was possessed
A man who stabbed his elderly aunt to death in June was found not criminally responsible for his actions in a Halifax courtroom on Friday.
John Jason Salah, 42, had a combination of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder when he fatally stabbed Norma Jean Salah, 77, believing she was possessed by the devil.
She died one week after he stabbed her in the stomach at her home.
Her nephew remains at the East Coast Forensic Hospital receiving treatment for his condition and awaiting a Criminal Code review board hearing, which will decide whether he stays in a hospital indefinitely, or whether he's released back into the community.
