Man facing attempted murder charges after shots fired

A Sydney, N.S. man is facing two charges of attempted murder after a weapon was allegedly fired at homes in Cape Breton.

A Sydney, N.S. man is facing two charges of attempted murder after a weapon was allegedly fired at homes in Cape Breton.

Police say they received complaints on Saturday afternoon that a man fired several shots at homes in the Hinchey Avenue area of New Waterford.

Witnesses reported a vehicle in the area around the time the shots were fired.

Upon further investigation, police were able to find the vehicle being driven on Lingan Road. 

Police stopped the 59-year-old driver and arrested him without incident.

The man is facing a number of charges including two charges of attempted murder, careless use of a firearm, possession of a dangerous weapon and impaired driving after failing the breathalyzer test.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
