Man facing attempted murder charge in Kentville shooting

A 45-year-old man is facing an attempted murder charge after a shooting in Kentville early Friday morning sent one man to hospital.

A 45-year-old man is facing an attempted murder charge after a shooting in Kentville early Friday morning sent one man to hospital.

Tony Allan Nickerson, 45, of Murphy Lake, N.S. is facing charges of attempted murder, careless use of a firearm, and unauthorized possession of a firearm.

Police said they do not think this is a random shooting.

The injured 52-year-old Kentville man was transferred to a Halifax hospital after being taken from his home on Park Street to Valley Regional Hospital. Police said he is in stable condition.

Nickerson has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Windsor provincial court on Monday. 

The RCMP's major crime unit for southwestern Nova Scotia has been asked to help with the investigation.
