A 19-year-old Lower Sackville man is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court on Monday to face charges of abduction of a person under 14 and sexual assault.

The police said it appears a man approached a four-year-old boy and took him into the bathroom at the Atlantic Superstore on Joseph Howe Drive on Wednesday.

Staff at the Superstore manned the doors and made announcements after the child's mother noticed he was gone. According to police, the suspect then walked out of the washroom with the boy, but when he got downstairs he left the boy behind and walked out of the store.

The police released a photo of a man on Thursday and asked the public for tips.

The police said they made an arrest around 9:30 Friday morning without incident.
