Police say alcohol and not wearing a seatbelt might be factors in a fatal collision that happened in a remote part of the Cape Breton Highlands National Park on Friday night.

Police say alcohol and not wearing a seatbelt might be factors in a fatal collision that happened in a remote part of the Cape Breton Highlands National Park on Friday night.

The Cheticamp RCMP said they received a 911 call from a passerby around 6:20 p.m. that a vehicle had been found in a ditch on the French Mountain Road.

A 36-year-old Cape Breton man was found dead inside.

Police said the early investigation shows the man was not wearing a seatbelt and they believe alcohol might have played a role in the crash.

They have not released the man's name.
