RCMP said the victim was walking on Church Street in Indian Brook during heavy rain on Wednesday night when he was struck from behind by a vehicle and thrown into a ditch.

He was taken to hospital in Halifax with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Mounties said a suspect vehicle was found on Brown Flats Road.

A 33-year-old Indian Brook man was arrested and charged with failing to remain at the scene of an accident.

Police say he is due in Shubenacadie provincial court on June 3.
