RCMP arrested a Bible Hill, N.S., man Sunday morning after an overnight standoff.

Police received a 911 call around 10:20 p.m. Saturday that an intoxicated man had barricaded himself inside a residence with a weapon, Corp. Phil Reddy said.

A woman placed the call from inside the residence on Blainedale Drive in Salmon River, which is close to Bible Hill in Colchester County. Soon after, the woman and a child left the home, he said.

"Shortly after the call, the area was cordoned off and the emergency response team and our crisis negotiation team was brought into assist," he said.

"RCMP were able to talk to the lone male located in the residence during the course of the evening and he surrendered peacefully."

RCMP entered the home at about 8 a.m. and arrested the man without incident. Reddy did not say if a weapon was found. The man was in police custody Sunday afternoon and charges were pending, Reddy said.
