Man airlifted from woods after tree falls on him

A man suffered serious injuries after a tree fell on him in the woods near East Preston.

Helicopter airlifted victim from the woods

A man was injured Thursday afternoon when a tree fell on him deep in the woods near East Preston.

The man was cutting trees in the area when another woodsman heard him scream. A tree had fallen and pinned the man, leaving him with serious injuries.

The other man made his way to a home on Brian Street and called 911.

The Rescue Co-ordination Centre dispatched a Cormorant helicopter from CFB Greenwood to the scene.

Search and Rescue personnel hoisted the 58-year-old man from the woods using a basket.

He was flown to a waiting ambulance at CFB Shearwater and then taken on to hospital in Halifax.
