Man, 72, robbed, assaulted in downtown Halifax
Man received minor injuries
Police are investigating after an older man was assaulted and robbed early Saturday morning in downtown Halifax.
The man, 72, was near the intersection of Sackville and Brunswick streets at around 4:40 a.m. when he noticed a group of young men watching him after he withdrew money from a bank machine.
Police said two of the men in the group assaulted him and stole his wallet, which contained cash.
The two suspects are described as white, between the ages of 20 and 25. One is about six feet tall with a thin build, the other is about five feet eight inches tall with a thin build and was wearing a red sweater at the time.
The man who was assaulted received minor wounds to his face and was treated by paramedics at the scene.
Police are asking anyone with information in the case to contact them or Crime Stoppers.
