The CEO of the Cape Breton District Health authority is stepping down after 15 years on the job.

The CEO of the Cape Breton District Health authority is stepping down after 15 years on the job.

John Malcom, who will retire from the post next spring, said he ends his career with no regrets.

"I'm not a person who worries about the mistakes I've made in the past. It's been my experience it's best to admit and learn from them," he said.

"So, no, I wouldn't redo anything in hindsight because I really think the future is how do we keep pushing forward to meet the needs of our community, to meet the needs of staff."

A national search is underway for his replacement.

Dr. Mahmood Naqvi, the district medical director, is also retiring from the health authority in the spring.
