Lake Charlotte man charged with drug, firearms offences
Police also investigating car crash involving police vehicle related to case
A man is facing firearms and drug charges after a search in Lake Charlotte over the weekend, say police.
Saturday night, police received a complaint that a man had pointed a gun at another man, and demanded cash.
Police then executed a search warrant at a home on Clam Harbour Road. A man was taken into custody without incident. Police seized a revolver-style pellet gun and numerous marijuana plants.
Richard Simpson, 49, has been charged with Robbery, along with drug possession charges.
He appeared in Dartmouth Provincial Court on Monday.
Police also said there was a car crash related to this case, but would not provide specific details.
At around 5:05 a.m. on Monday, an unmarked Emergency Response Team police vehicle was struck by a southbound vehicle at the intersection of Forest Hills Extension and Highway 7 in Cole Harbour, police said in a news release.
The crash resulted in extensive damage to the car and minor damage to the police vehicle.
Emergency responders assessed the man who was driving the car. He appeared to have no injuries.
The driver and passenger in the police vehicle, both men, were not injured.The police vehicle did not have sirens and lights activated at the time. The crash is currently under investigation.
