Jeep speeding at 225 km/h impounded

Halifax-area RCMP say they caught a Jeep Cherokee racing down Highway 103 at 225 km/h, about twice the speed limit.

Halifax-area RCMP say they caught a Jeep Cherokee racing down Highway 103 at 225 km/h — more than double the speed limit.

RCMP said the vehicle was stopped near Timberlea on Friday night.

A 25-year-old man from Dartmouth was charged with stunting. His driver's licence was suspended for at least a week.

Police also seized the Jeep for seven days.

The driver faces a fine of $2,400 and a loss of six points.

"Police take these types of aggressive driving incidents very seriously," RCMP said in a statement Monday.
