Ideas needed on how to market Annapolis County

Public meetings are being held this week to ask Annapolis County residents how the county should market itself globally.

Public meetings are being held this week to ask Annapolis County residents how the county should market itself globally.

Cody Joudry, the county's community economic development officer, said it's time Annapolis County started to promote itself — not just to draw new business, but to let tourists and its own residents know what's there.

"For example, the Annapolis Valley and particularly Annapolis County is the sunniest place in Nova Scotia. We have some of the best agricultural land in the country, we're the birthplace of Canada, the real birthplace."

County spokesperson Nadine Barteaux said finding a way to brand the region will come from those who live there.

"Everyone has their thoughts and feelings about what they feel Annapolis County is. This is our chance to bring it to a collective identity and to put it to a national, global, market to the world basically."

The meetings will be held Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night.

Barteaux said getting past the humility Maritimers are notorious for would be half the battle.
