Highway 107 reopened following crash

Highway 107 at the Forest Hills Extension has reopened following a collision involving a dump truck in Dartmouth.

Highway 107 at the Forest Hills Extension has reopened following a collision involving a dump truck in Dartmouth.

A passenger vehicle began hydroplaning, hit a guardrail and hit the dump truck in the opposite lane late Monday afternoon, according to RCMP.

Heavy rain and the worn state of the passenger vehicle's tires are believed to be the reasons behind the crash, police said.

Both vehicles were badly damaged and diesel fuel spilled onto the highway.

The drivers of both cars were not badly injured and both were able to walk away from the scene.

The highway reopened late Monday night.
