A woman was rushed to hospital by helicopter after her pickup truck collided with an SUV along Highway 103 near Bridgewater, N.S., say police.

The highway was closed in both directions around Exit 12 for two hours.

Chester RCMP said the woman was driving the truck westbound just before 3:12 p.m. when it collided with an SUV coming off the exit ramp, also travelling westbound.

Const. Tamu Bracken said it appears the male driver in the SUV was trying to make a U-turn on the highway.

He and his passenger were unhurt.

Investigators are on scene.
