A South Shore woman was airlifted to hospital in Halifax late Friday afternoon with serious stab wounds to her chest, police say.

Lunenburg District Cpl. Jamie Vacon said officers responded to a call at 3:51 p.m. about a stabbing at a home in Hebbville, just outside Bridgewater.

Officers located a 46-year-old female, who had suffered multiple stab wounds to her chest, Vacon said. A 59-year-old Hebbville male was arrested at the scene without incident.

The woman was first taken to the South Shore Regional Hospital in Bridgewater with serious, but non-life threatening injuries, Vacon said.

The investigation is continuing.
