Hebbville man accused of trying to kill wife

A Hebbville, N.S., man is charged with the attempted murder of his wife.

A Hebbville, N.S., man has been charged with the attempted murder of his wife, who was allegedly stabbed several times at their home Friday.

Randall Charles Whynot, 59, was arrested without incident late Friday afternoon at his home on Highway 3 after his wife, 46-year-old Patricia Whynot, was stabbed in the chest, abdomen and leg, police said. He was charged Saturday.

After being stabbed several times, Patricia Whynot locked herself in a bedroom and called 911, according to reports.

She was initially taken to the South Shore Regional Hospital in Bridgewater with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, said Cpl. Jamie Vacon of the RCMP's Lunenburg County detachment.

Randall Whynot is being held in the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility in Burnside and will appear in provincial court on Monday.
