A Halifax hotel clerk is sprayed with some sort of irritant during a robbery, police say.

A Halifax hotel clerk was sprayed with some sort of irritant during a robbery Friday night, police say.

The incident happened at the Comfort Inn on the Bedford Highway.

A lone male wearing a bandana across his face walked into the hotel's lobby shortly after 8 p.m. and demanded cash from the woman working at the front desk, police said Saturday.

He then sprayed the 25-year-old woman with the irritant before grabbing an undisclosed amount of cash and leaving.

The employee was treated at the scene and did not need to go to hospital.
