Knight a 'high risk' to reoffend

Halifax police issued a warning Friday about a sex offender released from prison after serving a sentence for offences against children.

Kenneth Gerald Knight, 43, poses a "high risk to reoffend in a sexual manner," said Const. Brian Palmeter. He said the warning was to all Nova Scotians, but particularly residents of Halifax Regional Municipality.

"Knight has a criminal history involving offences against young children and has been professionally assessed as a high risk to re-offend in a sexual manner," Palmeter said in a media release.

As part of the conditions of his release, Knight is under a number of conditions, including having no contact with children under the age of 14.

Knight is described as a 5"9 white man weighing 177 pounds. He has grey hair, hazel eyes, a moustache and wears glasses.

"This information is provided to alert members of the public of his release into the community. Any form of vigilante activity or other unreasonable conduct will not be tolerated," Palmeter added.
