Halifax Regional Police are searching for a man this morning who allegedly threatened a 38-year-old woman with a gun in Dartmouth.

Police sent the HRP Emergency Response Team to a home on Canso Lane just after midnight.

The woman fled from the man.  Police said he's known to her. She was unharmed and called police after she got away.

Police executed a search warrant at the home but Sgt. Greg Robertson said in a news release the 35-year-old suspect was not there.

Robertson said a 40-year-old woman was taken into custody in the area. He said police believe she was involved in the incident.

The CBC's Phonse Jessome was on the scene Monday morning. He spoke to a neighbour who said the home police were investigating was owned by a man who was relatively new to the neighbourhood.

The neighbour said the man had been causing some problems in the area. He said the suspect left long before police had surrounded the home.
