Halifax police say an officer's bulletproof vest prevented him from being injured Friday after he was attacked with a knife.

Halifax police say an officer's bulletproof vest prevented him from being injured Friday after he was attacked with a knife.

The attempted stabbing happened as officers entered an apartment on Pinecrest Drive in Dartmouth to execute a search warrant at about 1:30 a.m.

Officers seized the knife, a handgun and marijuana from the scene.

Six people, including a teenage boy, were taken into custody.

Police say a 23-year-old woman and two men, aged 20 and 57, face weapons-related charges and one count each of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking.

The 57-year-old man also faces a charge of assault with a weapon.

Two other people, a 20-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy, face weapons-related charges.
