Halifax police officer charged with assault
A 41-year-old Halifax police officer is facing an assault charge, stemming from a Serious Incident Response Team investigation.
Police Cst. Desmond Lambert has been charged with assaulting his wife on Jan. 3.
The investigative team said a woman called 911 from her Armdale home around 8:30 a.m. to report an assault.
Police then arrested Lambert. He's set to appear in a provincial court on Feb. 19.
SIRT is responsible for investigating all serious incidents involving police in Nova Scotia, whether or not there is an allegation of wrongdoing.
It is required to file a public report within three months after concluding its investigation.
