Halifax police issue arrest warrant for 20-year-old in alleged trafficking
Police are seeking Owen Ross Gibson-Skeir, 20, of East Preston, who they believe is in Halifax
An East Preston man accused of trafficking a 14-year-old girl and sexual assault is being sought by police.
Halifax police have issued an arrest warrant for Owen Ross Gibson-Skeir, 20, Staff Sgt. Bill Morris said in an email Friday.
He is believed to be in Halifax, police said.
Gibson-Skeir is described as 5'8", 130 lbs, slim build with grey eyes and reddish-coloured hair and facial hair. He has visible tattoos on his face, neck and hands.
Police said they believe the teen girl was being sexually exploited.
Investigators allege an adult man was trafficking the girl in Dartmouth and Halifax between Jan. 10 and March 9, Morris said in the release.
Gibson-Skeir faces the following charges:
- procuring a person under the age of 18
- trafficking a person under the age of 18
- sexual assault
- invitation to sexual touching
- sexual interference
- uttering threats
- advertising sexual services
- material benefit from trafficking a person under the age of 18
- material benefit from sexual services
- breach of probation
Police say Gibson-Skeir is considered dangerous and if members of the public see him, they should call 911 and should not approach him.
