Halifax mayor doubles as Brad Pitt for paint contest
Mike Savage wants to get the vote out for Main Street Matters
Halifax Regional Municipality Mayor Mike Savage is comparing himself to actor Brad Pitt and asking for the public's help in getting a free main street makeover courtesy of Benjamin Moore & Co.
"The toughest thing is the constant comparisons to Brad Pitt," Savage said in a video posted to YouTube.
"I know what you're thinking. But the camera adds 10 pounds and we're using a bunch of cameras."
Halifax is one of more than 100 communities across North America running for the paint company's Main Street Matters project, in which the top 20 locations on the continent will get a free paint makeover for a three-block stretch on a main street.
Benjamin Moore announced Tuesday the project will be undertaken with the help of multiple partner organizations around the country, including Make It Right — a philanthropic organization founded by Pitt.
"Brad Pitt stars in Ocean's Eleven. I used to play in the ocean when I was 11," Savage says, before encouraging citizens to vote for Halifax in the contest.
