Police have identified the suspect in Saturday's double stabbing.

Halifax police say the suspect in Saturday’s double stabbing is known to police.

It happened on Gottingen Street near the North Memorial Public Library at 2:37 on Saturday.

Police said a 31-year-old woman and a 19-year-old woman were in an apartment when a man entered the residence and stabbed them both before fleeing.

They said one victim was stabbed once, the other multiple times.

Investigators said both women were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The said they don't think the incident was random.
