A Halifax couple have scratched their way to $675,000 in lottery winnings.

David and Megan Roache purchased their winning ticket at Danielson's Tobacco on Dentith Road in Spryfield last Tuesday, according to a statement released today by the Atlantic Lottery Corporation.

"I'll finally get to see how it feels to get a paycheque that isn't used to pay the bills — it'll be mine," said David Roache in the release.

Roache purchased the winning ticket after cashing in a previous ticket worth $6. They decided to keep their big win a secret until now.

The Roaches say they've been saving to pay for their daughters' university education, but will spend a little of their winnings in the short term.

"For now, I'm getting an ATV that I can use when I go hunting," he said.
