Bridgewater police found a cache of weapons and drugs at a house near two schools that were locked down on Monday.

Police ordered the lockdown as a precautionary measure following a complaint at 11:16 a.m. Monday of, "a distraught male inside a residence with a firearm described as an assault rifle."

Const. William Creamer said police executed a search warrant at the home on York Street and found guns, as well as a "large quantity of marijuana resin and cocaine."

Sheldon Bowers, 40, of Bridgewater was taken into custody Monday afternoon. Following the search of the home, he now faces multiple drug and firearms charges.

After his court appearance on Tuesday, Bowers was remanded into custody until his next court appearance scheduled for Jan. 30 at 1 p.m.
