Governor General to visit N.S.

Gov. Gen. David Johnston is making his first official visit to Nova Scotia next week.

Gov. Gen. David Johnston is making his first official visit to Nova Scotia next week.

Johnston is starting his trip in Halifax on May 31. He will then move on to Dartmouth, Glace Bay and the Membertou First Nation.

In the Halifax area, Johnston will meet with provincial and municipal politicians before learning about an algae biofuel program and visiting the Nova Scotia Community College's Centre for the Built Environment.

In Cape Breton, he will take part in a Habitat for Humanity building project in Glace Bay and meet with people in Membertou.

Johnston will be accompanied by wife Sharon.

He was sworn in as Governor General on Oct. 1.
