Good Samaritan’s injuries potentially life-threatening

RCMP and Halifax Regional Police are seeking the public's assistance in search for suspect in a downtown Halifax assault.

RCMP and Halifax Regional Police are seeking the public’s assistance in their search for a suspect in a downtown Halifax assault Friday. Two men were struck on the 5100 block of Sackville Street at 12:19 a.m., leaving one man in hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries.

Police described the suspect as a white male, 20 to 25-years old, 6’1", with a medium build and brown short-cropped hair.

He wore a plaid, light blue, short-sleeved button-up shirt, cargo shorts, white sneakers and a backwards dark ball cap. The first victim intervened between an argument between the suspect and a woman.

The second victim, also male, stepped in to help the first man and the suspect struck him as well, causing him to fall and hit his head.

Police said the suspect fled on foot, jumped the Province House fence and headed north.

Police want to talk to the woman the suspect was arguing with and any other witnesses.
