Fire crews responded to a fire just before 8 a.m. Monday at Point Pleasant Grocery near Halifax’s Point Pleasant Park.
More than a dozen firefighters were dispatched to the fire in Halifax's south end.
Pat Kline, acting division commander for Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency Service, said no one was hurt and the main fire in the store was quickly extinguished.
Crews remained at the scene, checking to make sure there was no unseen fire left behind walls or in the ceiling.
There are apartments on the two floors above the store, but no one was home when the fire started.
Kline said it’s too soon to say what caused the fire.
