A former Scout leader from Bedford has been sentenced for accessing and possessing child pornography.

A former Scout leader from Bedford has been sentenced for accessing and possessing child pornography.

Craig Ward, 51, was sentenced Monday to four months in jail and 18 months of probation after pleading guilty, the Chronicle Herald reported.

Halifax Regional Police arrested Ward in December 2010 and seized his computers.

Ward, a resident of Bedford, was a Cub Scouts leader with the 5th Sackville Group. He was immediately suspended by Scouts Canada when the charges were announced.

Police said no local children were involved in the case.
