Elderly woman dies from stab wounds
An elderly Halifax woman stabbed last month has died, and her death has been ruled a homicide, police say.
Norma Jean Salah, 77, died in hospital on Saturday, Halifax Regional Police spokesman Const. Brian Palmeter said in a release.
She was stabbed on April 28 at around 6:33 p.m. inside a home on Flamingo Drive.
John Jason Salah, 41, of Halifax was arrested at the scene and charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and possession of a weapon.
The charge against him will likely be upgraded to second-degree murder, Palmeter said.
Investigators with the HRP/RCMP Integrated Major Crime Unit are consulting with the Public Prosecution Service to have the charges upgraded.
In an obituary, John Jason Salah is identified as the victim's nephew.
