Elderly man hit crossing Lower Sackville street

An elderly man was hit by a car in Lower Sackville, N.S., Sunday morning.

An elderly man was hit by a car in Lower Sackville, N.S., Sunday morning.

The 83-year-old was crossing Old Sackville Road near First Street at 9:30 a.m.

"An elderly gentleman had attempted to cross the street at that location and a car that was travelling east-bound crested the hill on a blind crest and struck him," said RCMP Staff Sgt. Scott Warnicka.

"The sun was directly in the eyes of the driver of the vehicle."

The man suffered head injuries and was taken to hospital. RCMP had no word on the man's condition.

The man was not in a crosswalk. The driver will not face charges, as no laws were broken.
