Halifax Regional Police confirmed Wednesday that a shooting earlier this week on Chebucto Road in Halifax that sent a 25-year-old man to hospital is drug-related.

Officers were called to the 6,000 block of Chebucto Road on Monday around 10:40 p.m. where they found a man had been shot. That man underwent surgery and is still recovering in hospital.

After the initial search of the home, Halifax Regional Police said they found evidence of drug trafficking.

Officers then obtained a search warrant and, upon further investigation of the townhouse on Chebucto Road, seized a quantity of marijuana, hashish, drug paraphernalia and cash.

"Drug activity often involves violence that puts innocent citizens at risk and is detrimental to the overall safety of our communities," Const. Pierre Bourdages said in a news release.

Halifax Regional Police say they're still looking for two men who may have been involved in the shooting.

They're asking anyone with information on this case to contact police of Crime Stoppers.
