Dozens of workers laid off from Halifax shipyard
The group of electricians, engine fitters and riggers were informed Saturday that they were being temporarily laid off.
The Halifax Irving Shipyard has confirmed that it laid off 32 employees over the weekend.

Mary Keith, a spokeswoman for the shipyard said the workforce "is adjusted on a weekly basis" to meet the yard's building demands.
She said "the boom and bust cycle" is a reality at the shipyard, but the National Shipbuilding Procurement Strategy should bring in steady work.
The Halifax Irving Shipyard said it hopes to hire the workers back again as soon as it can.
Last year, the yard won the right to bid on $25 billion worth of navy ship building contracts.
