Some schools are closed and flights delayed after heavy snow fell in Nova Scotia overnight.

CBC meteorologist Kalin Mitchell said unofficial tallies show Halifax received 12 centimetres of snow as of 2 a.m., with Greenwood getting nine and Sydney receiving eight.

The South Shore and Cape Breton-Victoria regional school boards cancelled all classes on Friday.

About 200 homes and businesses in Antigonish County were without power as of 7 a.m.
