Deer on Quinpool Road backs up traffic in Halifax
Police officers place yellow sheet over animal's body
Traffic was backed up on Quinpool Road in Halifax on Friday afternoon after a deer, which may have been in the back of a pickup truck, died near Connaught Avenue.
Cait Cotter told CBC News the deer was alive in the back of a pickup truck which was travelling down Quinpool Road toward the Armdale Roundabout. She said the deer fell out of the truck and was lying motionless on the road.
A man dragged the deer's body to the sidewalk and the animal died, Cotter said.
Three Halifax Regional Police officers placed a yellow sheet over the animal until it could be taken away.
It happened just before 4 p.m.
