Dead porcupine causes traffic jam on Highway 107
Police say a vehicle swerved to miss road kill and hit a guardrail
A dead porcupine is being blamed for a car crash on Wednesday morning that temporarily shut down part of Highway 107 near Lake Charles in Dartmouth.
Police say a vehicle swerved to miss the road kill, but spun out of control at around 9:40 a.m. The car then hit a guardrail on the other side of the road.
It happened in the outbound lane, about two kilometres from Highway 118 near the Conrad Brothers Ltd. site.
Police at the scene say it was fortunate another car wasn't coming along the busy route.
Emergency vehicles were called in. The driver was checked out by paramedics and is fine.
The highway was closed as crews removed the wreckage. It reopened just before 10:10 a.m.
