Dartmouth man charged in assault
Victim left with serious head injuries
A Dartmouth man has been charged with aggravated assault in connection with a beating early Friday morning at a Victoria Road apartment building, police say.
Lee Corey Elliott, 36, has been remanded into custody for the weekend and is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth provincial court on Monday, Halifax Regional police spokeswoman Theresa Rath said.
A 51-year-old man is in hospital with what are believed to be life-threatening head injuries, Rath said.
Police were called to the the 200 block of Victoria Road in Dartmouth at about 7:50 a.m. Officers found a man lying in a hallway of the building suffering from injuries sustained during an assault.
A man and two women, who are known to the injured man, were taken into custody at the scene. The two women have been released without charges.
Police believe the victim was invited to the apartment and was then assaulted by the other man, Rath said.
