Dartmouth crash results in drunk driving, weapons charges
Force of the crash launched gun from Darmouth man's car into roadway
A multi-vehicle crash on Waverley Road Sunday night has resulted in a slew of charges against a 40-year-old Dartmouth man.
At 10:22 p.m., Halifax Regional Police were called to the 800-block of Waverley Road for a crash.
Police say a 40-year-old man driving a pickup truck was travelling inbound when he lost control, striking three empty vehicles parked in front of a home.
The force of the crash threw the truck's contents all over the road and even resulted in some of the contents being thrown through the back window of one of the parked vehicles.
Police say a firearm was found on the road among the debris.
The driver, who was the only one in the truck at the time of the crash, suffered minor facial injuries and was taken to the QEII hospital for treatment.
The man was arrested and is facing impaired driving and five weapons-related offences.
Police say they expect to lay further charges as the investigation continues.
Waverley Road was closed until 2 a.m.
