The new $14.7-million bus terminal in Dartmouth will open three weeks later than planned.

Metro Transit said the official opening, originally planned for Monday, will be delayed until Sept. 17.

A regional official said a shortage of skilled labour has contributed to the delay.

Terry Gallagher, Infrastructure and Asset Manager, said there will be a week of test operations to make sure the facility is safe, before the official opening.

It's the busiest terminal in the Halifax region serving about 23,000 passengers a day.
