The Cape Breton children's entertainer known as Klutzy the Clown has been denied bail.

Dale Rancourt was charged in October with sexual assault, sexual exploitation and sexual interference involving a girl under the age of 16. He was released on conditions after he posted a $20,000 bond secured by his house and property.

Earlier this month, Rancourt was arrested for breaching two of those conditions, including being in a place where people under the age of 18 are usually present.

The Crown opposed his release on bail following the latest arrest.

A judge on Monday refused to grant Rancourt bail. Details of the bail hearing are banned from publication.

Rancourt will be back in court on Dec.12  to enter a plea to the charges.
