A body has been found in the debris of a burned home in Cumberland County, but police say a DNA test will be needed to identify the person.
A 65-year-old man who lived in the home in Collingwood, N.S., is missing, RCMP spokesman Cpl. Dal Hutchinson said.
Collingwood is a small community near Springhill and Oxford.
Firefighters couldn't find the man shortly after midnight Thursday when they arrived to a home engulfed in flames.
An RCMP cadaver dog and handler found a human body after searching the house debris later in the morning.
Nova Scotia's medical examiner's office will be doing a DNA test to determine the identity of the person and how they died, Hutchinson said.
Firefighters were able to rescue a Rottweiler dog.
