A crash on one of the approaches to the Mackay Bridge caused rush hour back-ups in Halifax.

A crash on one of the approaches to the Mackay Bridge caused rush hour back-ups in Halifax Thursday afternoon.

Halifax Regional Police were clearing an accident near the Massachusetts Avenue and Windsor Street approach that closed the bridge on-ramp at that location for several hours.

It left Barrington Street as the only access point for Dartmouth-bound motorists.

Const. Brian Palmeter said the collision between a truck and a car happened around 2:20 p.m.

He said one person was taken to hospital with what are believed to be significant, but non-life threatening injuries.

The on-ramp has since re-opened.
