Last week, Marjorie Willison, longtime gardening columnist on Maritime Noon, decided to step away from the microphone after 37 years of offering advice to listeners.

She said she was not retiring but "restyling" and focusing on her community work.

Listeners were wondering if Maritime Noon would continue to offer a gardening segment and the answer is, yes.

Host Bob Murphy shared with listeners on Thursday (May 5), that the gardening phone-in will continue with well-known Maritime gardener Niki Jabbour.

"I am really excited to be here. I have been a Marjorie fan since I was probably 14 and started gardening," Niki told Bob from her Halifax garden. "She's been very influential on me, I have spent time with her over the years.

"As I was heading off to study horticulture, I had the opportunity to spend an afternoon with her and I was working in a book shop and she did a signing. So I spent about two hours pestering her with questions, 'What's mulch? What vegetables can I plant in the fall?' She was very patient and kind with me."

HEAR NIKI'S FIRST PHONE-ON FROM FRIDAY, MAY 6. - it begins at 9:25 in the show.

People in Miramichi, NB, are excited about a new Facebook group called Miramichi Mystery Machine. Posts on the site give clues for people to find hundred dollar bills. We speak with Amanda Rolfe who found one. And on the phone-in: We do our first gardening show with Niki Jabbour!

The garden is a magical place for Niki and she is happy to share her advice and tips with you on the Maritime Noon phone-in. The next phone-in will be on Friday, May 20.
